The Sparks produced a goal fest to put seven past Brockenhurst on Saturday afternoon and climb to 19th in the Sydenhams Wessex Premier League.

In a scrappy opening to the game, The Badgers looked most likely to open the scoring but Solent striker Hisham Kasimu took matters into his own hands, flicking a long ball over the visitors back four and slotting neatly into the bottom corner to give the home side a surprise lead with just 23 minutes on the clock.

This may have taken Brockenhurst by surprise, however, Solent doubled their lead before the half-hour mark when Kasimu powered through the defence and rounded the keeper for his second of the game. This put the Test Park outfit firmly in command.

With Brockenhurst being rocked early on they tried to settle but could not construct any moves as the hungry Solent midfield were constantly on the hunt.

The striker then bagged his hat-trick within the opening 35 minutes. Tyrell Mitford with a cutting through ball from the left wing, leaving the striker to bury the ball low to the corner to assert his dominance on the visitors’ defence.

Brockenhurst right-winger William Tickle had been causing trouble down the flank, but a shot that hit the post resulting in a goal kick was as close as Brockenhurst got to scraping one back before the halftime whistle.

The students came straight out of the blocks in the second half to add another goal to their total, Kasimu turned provider for the fourth, crossing to Mitford who did the rest inside the six-yard box.

Solent continued to show flare in the second half as the home side bagged a fifth, Kasimu latching onto a flicked through ball to find the bottom corner.

With the Brockenhurst defence soaking up more pressure than they needed to, the team in red found a way of getting their sixth goal of the afternoon, a delightful cross into the box where Silvano Obeng produced a spectacular diving header into the top left corner.

In the dying minutes, Jame’s Taylor’s men added further salt to the wounds of the opposition’s painful performance, Steven Black turned scorer as a rebounded shot landed at his feet, he did the rest by shooting into an open goal to round off a perfect afternoon in Southampton.
