Solent recorded only their second win of the season after 14 games, but a positive performance all round left Thorn praising his team’s hard work.

Captain Thorn also spurred his side to keep a clean sheet, which has been a target of his from the past few games.

‘It’s something that I’ve been waiting for, for a long time,” said the versatile defender.

‘The back four today were tremendous.

The 21-year-old also stated that new training sessions have been added, to assure that the squad is raring and ready to go week in week out.

‘We’re going to train Monday’s, Wednesday’s and Thursday’s now, so with extra training sessions we can work hard and pick out weaknesses.’

Thorn is certain that his side can win every game with good performances and was impressed by team-mate Hisham Kasimu, who netted four on his full debut.

‘To get four goals on your first start is something special.

‘He is so electric and so fast. I would hate to play against him.

‘With his attacking ability, he will be really hot for us this year.’

Manager James Taylor also praised his side’s work rate, which lead to their first clean sheet in six games.

Having struggled to score goals in previous games, Taylor, who took up the goalkeeping role as Bradley Banda has been on international duty with Gibraltar, was delighted to see his side put seven past mid-table Brockenhurst, and also see his offence thrive at every opportunity.

‘Consistent performances like that will be more than enough to win games,” he said.

‘It’s important that next Saturday we do exactly the same and work hard for each other.’

Taylor will hope to see his side continue from this result as they face an away trip to Amesbury Town next week, who will also be in confident spirit after downing Purton FC 2-1 away from home.

Team Solent will then play host to Hamworthy United on the 28thOctober before facing a tricky road trip to current leaders Blackfield and Langley on the final day of the month.
