Match Report – Team Solent vs Tavistock AFC

Team Solent progressed to the next stage of the FA Vase following an impressive 2-0 win over Tavistock AFC last night at Test Park.

The visitors, who were unbeaten all season before last night put up a good performance on a cold Tuesday night but a young, energetic Solent team got the better of them.

The home side have goalkeeper Bradley Banda to thank however, as excellent saves throughout the game were crucial to keeping Tavistock’s attack at bay.

Fans had to wait until the 40th minute to see the first goal of the game. The in form Hisham Kasimu was put through one on one with the keeper and made no mistake.

Tavistock’s Josh Grant came closest to drawing one level before the halftime whistle, his shot from the edge of the area clipping the bar on its way out for a goal kick.

When the teams returned for the second half, The Lambs came out fighting and had several opportunities to find the net, all of them however stopped by the athletic Banda in goal for Solent.

Another attempt was cleared off the line by Solent’s strong-willed defence who kept solid until the final whistle.

The Sparks’ second goal of the evening came within the last ten minutes. From the left side of the penalty area, Silvano Obeng curled an immaculate shot into the bottom corner, with a little help from the post.

A successful performance from the Sparks means they are still on the road to Wembley in the FA Vase. With attentions now turning to their league performances, can Solent continue their unbeaten run?
