Match Report - Andover Town vs Team Solent

Andover Town put an end to their visitors’ 19 match unbeaten run with a 2-1 scoreline.

Adam Grange and Zach Glasspool were on target at Portway in a game that saw Tyrell Mitford miss a penalty.

Town took the lead on five minutes after Grange’s corner looped over Lee Webber, coming after their first

delivery which forced the keeper into an unconvincing save.

Solent, without suspended Jesse Waller-Lassen and Ade Olumyiwa, appeared rocked by the conversion and a

shadow of their previous, as Leroy Plummer fired over the bar following a loose back pass by Mike Lamb.

The Sparks pushed for the equaliser and were met by an inspired Lloyd Thomas, who kept out a close range effort from Curtis Thorn and then Jim Orvis.

A penalty was in question for Andover when Grange danced his way passed Thorn, but Michael Fogt deemed it just outside. Liam Gilbert stepped up and his delivery evaded everyone in the area, including the left post.

The home side started brightly once more and were awarded a corner within a minute, but Grange’s delivery was cleared by Lamb at the back post.

An Orvis corner proved troublesome for Andover this time, missing everyone, permitting the blues to break three on one, but Plummer’s delayed shot pleased Solent.

Solent began to take control of the tie and went close via a beautiful bit of skill from Mitford which allowed him to find Orvis from the byline, who’s turn and shot was hunted down quickly.

But the composure of the students continued to look a halt them back and the Andover counters continued to struggle them, Ellis White once more papering over the cracks to keep it at one.

Space began to appear for team in red, and Matt Sheedy tricked and drew a controversial penalty, but Thomas was equal to Mitford’s effort.

Debutante Harrison Fay, on for Grange, nearly made it memorable on 80, clipping the post from six yards out.

Glasspool buried from close to make it two five minutes before the end, after Fay had found him from the left.

The result keeps both as they were, with Team Solent at sixth and Andover 17th.
