Match Preview – Team Solent vs Cowes Sports

Team Solent have one final home fixture before Christmas, taking on Cowes Sports at Test Park today.

Solent are unbeaten in three home games dating back to the end of last month, and last week held top eight side AFC Portchester to a 3-3 draw.

It’s the Sparks’ home form which has kept them out of the relegation places this season, with tomorrow’s match crucial as their opponents sit once place below them in the table.

Just two points separate the sides, although Cowes do have a game in hand on Solent.

The home side have not struggled to score goals all season, with striker Hirsham Kasimu scoring a hat-trick last week against one of the best defences in the league.

James Taylor’s men will face another stern test with their visitors being another team that has defended very well considering their league position.

Cowes also into the game on the back of a draw, a 1-1 home affair against Fareham Town.

Cowes have an awful away record this season, losing every one of their nine away league fixtures. A lot of this is because they have struggled to score goals, ranking in the top five for fewest league goals scored this season.

On paper, the form table would suggest a Team Solent victory tomorrow, but it’s not as simple as that. The Test Park outfit are a team that has conceded a lot of goals this season, and their leaky defence might give Cowes an opportunity in the game.

If Solent play at their best, their attacking options should prove too much for Cowes and could pull them into the mid-table places if results go their way.
